International Chair
The EFL project is actively pursuing a policy of internationalizing research by welcoming internationally renowned professors to its chair each year. These visits help to strengthen scientific collaborations, offer high-level seminars open to young researchers, and foster discussions on the major issues currently facing linguistics.
The EFL project is firmly focused on international excellence through its Chair, which brings together renowned researchers from leading international universities.
Fostering Global Dialogue in Linguistic Research
An International Outlook at the Core of the Project
The EFL project is driven by a strong commitment to international scientific openness. In this spirit, the International Chair enables the project to host each year internationally renowned scholars from leading universities worldwide for research residencies within its partner laboratories.
These invitations are designed to promote research excellence grounded in a dynamic of international collaboration. Holders of the Chair present their most recent work, engage with local research teams, take part in ongoing projects, and contribute to the dissemination of linguistic knowledge within an interdisciplinary framework.
Scientific and Educational Objectives
The International Chair pursues several key objectives:
-
To stimulate cutting-edge research by encouraging the exchange of methods, approaches, and perspectives on shared linguistic topics.
-
To establish long-lasting links between the EFL project teams and international academic institutions.
-
To strengthen doctoral training through the organization of seminars, lectures, and workshops directly accessible to early-career researchers.
-
To enhance the scientific visibility of the EFL project at both European and global levels.
A Structuring Initiative for the EFL Network
Scholars invited under the International Chair contribute to the project’s strategic research axes, in close connection with EFL’s core thematic areas (linguistic variation, language acquisition, multilingualism, language contact, natural language processing, etc.). They take an active part in the life of the project and enrich scientific discussions by bringing their expertise and perspectives.
These research residencies, which may range from a few weeks to several months, give rise to open scientific events (conferences, round tables, seminars, and teaching activities) and reflect a strong commitment to knowledge transfer toward students, doctoral candidates, and fellow researchers.
A Tradition of Scientific Excellence
Since the creation of the Chair, several leading figures in the field of linguistics have been welcomed, helping to establish Paris as an international hub for contemporary linguistic research. This program reflects EFL’s determination to embed itself within a global scientific network and to foster productive dialogue across disciplines, languages, and research cultures.
