EFL for everyone
The EFL project is designed to foster dialogue between language science research laboratories and civil society. The project’s DNA therefore consists of promoting its ambitious research work through a series of concrete actions that are as close as possible to citizens. Discover them now.
A wide range of promotional activities
The EFL project focuses much of its work on connecting with civil society, enabling as many people as possible to learn about the many practical applications of language sciences in our lives.

Podcasts: listening to linguistics differently
As part of the previous Labex EFL, we launched Vox, an original podcast that gives a voice to the project’s researchers. Far from academic jargon, each episode explores a research topic, a word, a field, or a linguistic issue with simplicity and rigor.
Vox is a stimulating and accessible tool for discovering what linguistics is really about today.
Science Festival: a meeting between researchers and citizens
Every year, the EFL project participates in the Science Festival, offering workshops, language games, mini-conferences, and activities for young and old alike. The goal is simple: to bring language sciences to life in the public sphere, answer questions that everyone has about languages, and spark curiosity through experimentation and direct exchange.
Linguistics words: an alphabet book for everyone
We have designed an interactive alphabet book, intended as a fun and educational introduction to the world of linguistics. Each keyword (from babbling to variation, from syntactic to phoneme) is explained clearly and rigorously, with a constant focus on making the subject accessible without oversimplifying it.
This alphabet book is an evolving resource, intended for teachers, students, cultural mediators, but also for those who are simply curious.
Classroom workshops and school presentations
The EFL project is also involved in educational initiatives in partnership with middle schools, high schools, and cultural centers. Project members lead workshops on languages, accents, loanwords, linguistic biases, and languages of the world, adapting their content to the age and level of their audience.
This is a practical way to introduce young people to research in action, stimulate critical thinking, and enhance their language skills.
An inclusive and committed approach
“EFL for all” is based on one conviction: science becomes more relevant when it opens up to society.
Our project promotes a committed approach to linguistics, attentive to linguistic diversity, linguistic discrimination (such as glottophobia), and contemporary issues (endangered languages, automatic language processing, AI, etc.).
